SipSpot Privacy Policy Addendum

Effective Date: February 17, 2026
Applies To: SipSpot iOS app (all versions with AI Sommelier and Hybrid AI features)

This Privacy Policy Addendum supplements the main SipSpot Privacy Policy available at https://jamsoftinc.com/privacy-policy-apple. If there is a conflict between this Addendum and the main policy, this Addendum controls for the features described below.

What This Addendum Covers

This Addendum explains what personal data SipSpot may process for AI features, who that data is shared with, how and when user permission is requested, and user controls for enabling, disabling, and revoking AI data sharing.

Data SipSpot Collects and How It Is Collected

  • SipSpot is local-first. Most data is stored on your device unless you enable optional sync or sharing features.

  • SipSpot may process the following categories of data:

  • User-provided content, including drink logs, wine entries, ratings, notes, photos, meal details, and preferences you enter in-app.

  • AI chat content, including text you type in AI Sommelier.

  • Derived app context for AI responses, including relevant recent tasting data and preference summaries needed to answer your request.

  • Subscription status data from Apple StoreKit.

  • Permission-based data, if enabled by you:

    • camera and photo access for scanning and image features,

    • location data for in-app location features (when-in-use),

    • HealthKit data for wellness features (only after Health permissions are granted).

AI Data Use and Third-Party Sharing

Apple Intelligence

SipSpot uses Apple Intelligence for certain on-device personalized features. SipSpot does not require a separate SipSpot server-side AI account for this processing.

Google Gemini (Third-Party AI Service)

  • For eligible Pro AI Sommelier interactions, SipSpot may use Google Gemini API provided by Google LLC.

  • When Gemini is used, SipSpot may transmit:

    • your AI chat request text,

    • relevant recent sip summary data (for example, item name, drink type, rating),

    • relevant recent wine summary data (for example, wine name, color, region, price),

    • relevant preference summary data (for example, preferred colors, budget range),

    • routing or context metadata needed to generate the response.

  • Data is sent to Google Gemini API endpoints, including host: generativelanguage.googleapis.com.

  • Purpose of sharing: to generate AI Sommelier responses and provide conversational pairing and recommendation guidance.

User Permission Requirement for Third-Party AI Sharing

  • Before SipSpot sends personal data to Google Gemini, SipSpot presents an in-app permission prompt that:

    • discloses what data may be sent,

    • identifies Google LLC and Google Gemini API as the recipient,

    • asks for your explicit choice to allow or decline sharing.

  • If you decline, SipSpot keeps AI responses on Apple Intelligence paths available in the app and does not send your AI context to Google Gemini.

User Controls and Revocation

  • You can change your choice at any time in-app at:

    • Data & Privacy Controls > Subscription > Hybrid AI Access

  • You can also reset your Gemini consent choice, disable camera/location/Health permissions in iOS Settings (and in the Health app for HealthKit), and clear local app data from SipSpot data controls.

Other Services

  • Depending on features you enable, SipSpot may use:

    • Apple CloudKit for optional sync and shared collection features,

    • Apple StoreKit for in-app subscriptions and purchase management,

    • Apple HealthKit for wellness features you explicitly authorize.

  • These services process data under Apple’s terms and privacy practices.

Data Retention

  • Local SipSpot records remain on-device until you delete them.

  • Cloud-synced records, if enabled, are retained under Apple CloudKit and iCloud controls.

  • Gemini consent status is stored locally so your choice persists.

  • Data transmitted to Google Gemini is subject to Google’s retention and processing policies.

Sale and Advertising

  • SipSpot does not sell personal data. SipSpot does not share personal data for third-party behavioral advertising through the AI flow described in this Addendum.

Children’s Privacy

  • SipSpot is made for Individuals of legal drinking age in the country being used. SipSpot is not directed to individuals under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

International Processing

  • Third-party providers, including Google and Apple services, may process data in countries other than your own. Where applicable, those providers are responsible for safeguards associated with cross-border processing.
