Privacy Policy for Ca.dence by Jamsoft Inc.

Jamsoft Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in Ca.dence (the “App”), including its supported iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Android phone, tablet, foldable, Wear OS watch, widget, tile, complication, and extension features. Features vary by device and operating system.
1. Our Approach to Privacy
Ca.dence does not require a Jamsoft account. The App processes information to help you organize your schedule and everyday life. Your personal planning content is stored on your devices and, where applicable, handled through the Apple or Google/Android services, optional cloud AI briefing features, and optional sharing features described in this policy.
We do not send your personal planning content to a Jamsoft-operated server, sell your personal information, or use it for targeted advertising. The App does not include third-party advertising or product-analytics SDKs.
If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to provide.
2. Calendar, Reminders, and Personal Content
With your permission, Ca.dence accesses your calendar and reminder records to display your day, suggest plans, and perform actions you request:
Apple Devices: Ca.dence accesses Apple Calendar and Reminders.
Android Devices: Ca.dence accesses the Android system calendar provider (CalendarContract, including Google Calendar or other calendar accounts synced to your device) to read and create events and update in-place meeting notes. Reminders, task lists, subtasks, priorities, and location-reminder labels on Android are stored locally on your device in Ca.dence’s internal database rather than a separate system reminders app.
Accessed calendar and reminder information may include event and reminder titles, dates, times, recurrence rules, availability, notes, locations, meeting links, calendar or list information, and participant/attendee names, email addresses, and response statuses available in your calendar records.
Ca.dence also stores information you enter or create through the App, such as goals, routines, life-admin items, open-loop states, people and birthdays, follow-ups, journal notes and moods, priorities, focus sessions, work history, and preferences. Local activity and completion history may be used to personalize suggestions and calibrate time estimates.
The People feature uses information you enter. Ca.dence does not request access to your Contacts address book.
Calendar records (and Apple Reminders records on Apple devices) remain in the accounts you use with those system providers. Their synchronization and sharing depend on those accounts and any shared calendars or lists you use.
3. Cloud Sync and Backup (iCloud and Android Backup)
Ca.dence uses platform cloud services to synchronize or back up supported information across your personal devices:
Apple iCloud: On Apple devices, Ca.dence uses Apple’s iCloud services to synchronize supported information across your personal Apple devices. The App’s iCloud sync setting is enabled by default and operates when the required iCloud account and services are available. You can disable it in the App’s settings.
Android Cloud Backup, Device Transfer, and Block Store: On Android devices, Ca.dence participates in Android Auto Backup / Cloud Backup, device-to-device transfer, and Google Play Services Block Store (for compact restoration checkpoints) according to your device’s backup settings.
Synced or backed-up information may include preferences, saved places, priorities, planning links and settings, saved stories, goals, routines and their history, life-admin items, people, journal notes and moods, work history, and (on Android) your local reminders database.
Private synchronization and backups use your personal Apple iCloud or Google account storage. Jamsoft does not receive a copy of that content on its own servers. Raw health readings, temporary AI briefing caches, and certain device-specific records—including local duration calibration and learning history—are excluded from the App’s cloud synchronization and backup rules (though sleep duration or workout minutes recorded into a daily journal summary may be included with your portable daily-life records).
Turning off Ca.dence’s iCloud sync or Android backup does not disable synchronization performed separately by Apple Calendar, Apple Reminders, Google Calendar, or other system services.
Platform handling of information is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy.
4. Optional Household Sharing
Ca.dence offers optional ways to share selected household routines and life-admin items without a Jamsoft server:
On Apple Devices: Household sharing begins when you create or accept an invitation through Apple’s iCloud sharing system. Life-admin items and routines you mark as shared, their completion information, and names or attribution included in those records become available to household participants. Apple’s sharing interface may also display participant identity information.
On Android Devices: Household sharing uses serverless, peer-to-peer .cadence sync bundles. When you choose to share, Ca.dence generates an HMAC-signed JSON file containing your household label, the routines and life-admin items you have marked as shared, ownership labels, modification timestamps, and deletion records (tombstones), and lets you send it through the Android Share Sheet or Quick Share.
Your private journal, personal goals, People records, Health readings, and other unshared records are not included in household sharing.
You can manage sharing, leave a household, or stop sending sync bundles through the available controls. Stopping sharing does not erase copies another participant has already received, retained, or exported. On Android, shared .cadence files are transmitted through whichever app or service you select in the system share sheet.
5. Optional Health Access (Apple Health and Google Health Connect)
On supported devices, Ca.dence requests read-only access to selected health information when you enable related features:
Apple Devices: Read-only access to selected Apple Health records.
Android Devices: Read-only access to Google Health Connect sleep sessions (READ_SLEEP) and exercise sessions (READ_EXERCISE).
This information may include sleep duration and exercise/workout minutes to help calculate energy levels and tailor focus block suggestions, and workout dates/days when you enable a goal that counts workouts. The App may attach sleep duration (including pending sleep readings) and workout minutes to local daily records and progress tracking.
Raw health store readings (health_local.json on Android) are processed locally and are excluded from Ca.dence’s raw cloud backup rules, household sharing bundles, and cloud AI requests. Ca.dence does not write information to Apple Health or Google Health Connect or use health readings for advertising.
If you export your daily-life data (or back up portable daily summary records that include logged sleep hours or workout minutes), the export or summary record may include that locally stored health-derived information.
You can change Health permissions in Apple’s settings or in Android’s Health Connect settings. Revoking permission stops future access but does not automatically erase information previously stored by Ca.dence. Apple Health and Google Health Connect storage, backup, and sharing settings are managed separately.
6. Location, Weather, and Travel
On Apple Devices: Weather features can use a place you select or, with your permission, your approximate current location. Ca.dence requests reduced location accuracy and rounds coordinates before using them for Apple’s place-name lookup and weather services. Place searches, travel estimates, and departure alerts use Apple Maps services, which receive relevant search text, starting places, destinations, and event locations/arrival times. Saved weather places and travel origins may be included in synced preferences. You can disable current-location access in system settings and select a place manually instead.
On Android Devices: Ca.dence does not request device GPS location permissions. Errand grouping (“Errands in One Trip”) and location labels use the place text and addresses you enter on events and reminders. When you request directions to an event or errand location, Ca.dence may resolve the address or place name through the Android Geocoder service and open a navigation or map link (geo: or google.navigation:) in Google Maps or your chosen mapping app.
Ca.dence does not build a history of your movements or track your background location.
7. Voice, Camera, Images, and Shared Content
Voice capture uses your microphone when you start a capture session:
Speech is transcribed to text (on Android, using Android’s SpeechRecognizer with on-device/offline recognition preferred where available, subject to a 60-second session limit).
Ca.dence does not save raw audio recordings to disk or upload audio to a Jamsoft server. The resulting text appears in a form for you to review.
Apple or Google/Android system services may download speech models needed to support on-device transcription, or process speech via system recognition services depending on your device capabilities and system settings.
You can select images, use the camera (on Android, with your CAMERA permission), or explicitly share text, links, and images into Ca.dence via the system Share Sheet to help prepare reminders or events:
On Android, attached or captured images are processed on-device using Google ML Kit Text Recognition (OCR) and ML Kit Barcode Scanning to extract text and barcodes for your review. High-resolution shared images (such as images over 24 megapixels) are downsampled locally to preview thumbnails.
Using the system photo picker or Share Sheet provides access only to the items you select or share rather than unrestricted access to your photo library.
Content you save is handled according to the storage and synchronization practices described in this policy.
8. Artificial Intelligence (Apple Intelligence, Gemini Nano, and Cloud AI Briefings)
Ca.dence uses artificial intelligence features to assist with planning, capture, search, personalization, and summarization:
On-Device AI (Apple Intelligence on Apple Devices; Gemini Nano & MediaPipe on Android):
On Apple devices, supported planning, capture, search, personalization, and summarization features—including AI news briefings—use Apple’s on-device models (Apple Private Cloud Compute is not enabled).
On Android devices, planning refinement, multi-item commitment extraction, multimodal quick capture, “Ask Your Day,” morning briefs, evening reviews, task breakdowns, and weekly trend summaries run on-device using Gemini Nano via Android AICore, paired with deterministic local fallbacks. Semantic search and headline ranking use on-device Google MediaPipe Text Embedder models. When summarizing weekly trends, only aggregate numerical metrics (such as task counts, focus minutes, routine percentages, and average sleep hours) are provided to the on-device prompt, and personal names are filtered out. You can turn off on-device written summaries and Ask features in Ca.dence’s settings (Written summaries and Ask).
Apple or Google Play Services / Android AICore may download and manage on-device model weights according to your device, language, and system settings.
Cloud AI News Briefings on Android (Firebase AI Logic & Gemini):
On Android, when you open or refresh the AI News Briefing, Ca.dence uses Firebase AI Logic (Google Gemini cloud models) to generate a concise summary of up to 12 article headlines and snippets from your enabled publishers, falling back to on-device Gemini Nano if cloud models are unavailable or your device is offline.
Lazy Initialization & Request Verification: Firebase services are initialized lazily only when a cloud AI briefing is requested (never at app launch). Ca.dence uses Firebase Remote Config to retrieve the active priority list of Gemini model identifiers (gemini_model_list) and Firebase App Check with Google Play Integrity to verify that requests come from an authentic app and device.
Schedule Privacy in Cloud Briefings: Your calendar event titles, reminder titles, notes, locations, people, journal entries, and health records are never sent to Firebase AI Logic. If you explicitly enable the optional “Relate briefing to my day” setting on Android, Ca.dence includes only anonymized, count-only schedule metadata (total event count, total busy minutes, open reminder count, and overall day-load pace label) alongside the news headlines.
Local Caching: Generated news briefings are cached locally on your device for up to 6 hours to reduce repeat requests.
Ca.dence does not use your personal planning data to train a Jamsoft AI model. Google’s handling of Firebase and Google AI requests is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase terms.
9. News and Third-Party Websites
Ca.dence retrieves RSS/Atom news feeds directly from enabled publishers and may download article images from publishers or image-hosting services. On Android, Ca.dence enforces HTTPS-only article links and strips common tracking parameters (such as utm_*, fbclid, and gclid) from feed URLs.
Publisher servers receive ordinary network request information, which may include your IP address, the requested address, request time, and technical request headers. Opening an article (including through Android Custom Tabs or your browser) or an external link is subject to that publisher’s or browser’s privacy practices, including any cookies or analytics they use.
Ca.dence may use the headlines you open or save and your interest or muted keywords to personalize news ordering on your device. This local reading history is not sent to a Jamsoft analytics service. Saved stories and news preferences may synchronize or back up through your personal iCloud or Android backup account.
Your calendar titles, reminders, journal, and Health readings are never attached to publisher feed requests.
10. Widgets, Notifications, Wearables, and System Surfaces
Ca.dence can display relevant information and accept quick actions across system surfaces:
Apple Devices: Widgets, notifications, Live Activities, focus alarms, Apple Watch, Siri, Shortcuts, Handoff, and Spotlight system search.
Android Devices: Jetpack Glance Home and Lock Screen widgets, Promoted Ongoing Notifications / Live Updates (with countdown chronometers for active focus sessions and meetings), exact focus-end alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM), Quick Settings tiles (Quick Capture and Refresh My Day), Android Launcher and Assistant App Actions / dynamic shortcuts, Jetpack AppSearch local on-device search indexing, and the Wear OScompanion app, Tile, and watch face complications.
Widgets and extensions use local storage on your device. On Apple devices, the iPhone app exchanges summaries and action updates with your paired Apple Watch. On Android, the phone app syncs day snapshots (Honest Day status, “What to do now” pick, focus session state, upcoming agenda titles, and top reminders/routine steps) and action requests with your paired Wear OS watch via the Google Play Services Wearable Data Layer.
Personal widget details (which can mask specific event and reminder titles with generic counts when turned off) and search indexing can be managed in settings. Depending on the features you enable, personal titles or other information may appear on your Home Screen, Lock Screen, notification shade, or watch face.
Processing of voice requests by Siri, Google Assistant, or other system assistants outside the App is governed by Apple’s or Google’s respective policies and your device settings.
11. Purchases and Diagnostics
App Store and Google Play Billing: Apple (via the App Store) and Google (via Google Play Billing) process purchases and Ca.dence Pro subscription payments on their respective platforms. Ca.dence uses verified purchase statuses and tokens to determine access to paid features and acknowledge purchases. We do not receive your payment card details through the App.
Managing Subscriptions: You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account or Google Play account settings. Uninstalling Ca.dence does not cancel a subscription.
Diagnostics: Ca.dence does not include a third-party remote product-analytics service. On Apple devices, it uses Apple’s local performance and diagnostic tools. Apple (via App Store Connect) and Google (via Google Play Console / Android Vitals) may separately provide developers with aggregated app analytics, vitals, or crash reports in accordance with their policies and your device’s diagnostic sharing settings.
12. Your Choices, Exports, and Deletion
You can manage Calendar, Reminders (on Apple devices), Camera, Microphone, Location (on Apple devices), Health / Health Connect, Notifications, and Exact Alarm permissions through your device’s system settings. Within Ca.dence, you can manage cloud sync, household sharing, news publishers and keywords, AI briefings and on-device written summaries/Ask, personal widget details, and search settings.
Ca.dence provides readable (including Markdown) and JSON exports of its daily-life records. Exports may contain personal notes, moods, routines, life-admin items, people, activity history, and locally stored health-derived information (such as sleep duration and workout minutes/dates). They do not include the underlying system Calendar or Apple Reminders databases.
Exported files and shared .cadence household sync bundles are not encrypted by Ca.dence. Their protection and handling depend on where you save or share them.
You can edit or remove supported records in the App. Saved content and preferences are retained to provide the App’s features, while some caches and histories are limited or periodically pruned (for example, 6-hour AI briefing caches and 180-day deletion tombstones used to synchronize removals across household sync merges).
Turning off sync/backup or uninstalling Ca.dence does not automatically erase existing iCloud data, Android Cloud Backups, Google Play Services Block Store checkpoints, system Calendar or Reminders records, household participants’ copies, or exported files. Remaining copies must be managed through the relevant platform service, device, account, or storage provider.
13. Support Communications
If you contact Jamsoft, we receive your email address and any messages, attachments, or diagnostic information you choose to send. We use this information to respond and address your request.
Correspondence is handled through the email services used to send and receive it. Please include only information relevant to your request.
You may contact us to request deletion of information you have sent us, subject to applicable legal obligations.
14. Children’s Privacy
Ca.dence is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed to children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction.
We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through support communications or other direct submissions to Jamsoft. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
Ca.dence does not require an account or verify users’ ages.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App or our practices change. We will post the revised policy and update the “Last Updated” date.
If additional notice or consent is required by applicable law, we will provide it. Please review this policy periodically.
