Jamsoft Inc. ("Jamsoft," "we," "us," or "our") provides ACJ: Aficionado Cigar Journal ("ACJ"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use ACJ.
ACJ does not offer sign-in. Access to ACJ is based on whether you have an active subscription through the Apple App Store. Apple handles billing and subscription management for iOS purchases.
1. Information We Collect
Subscription and entitlement information
Because access to ACJ is based on an Apple App Store subscription, we may receive limited subscription-related information needed to confirm your access, such as subscription product identifiers, entitlement status, renewal status, and similar billing-state information. We do not receive your full payment card number.
Technical and app operation information
We may use technical identifiers and service-provider records needed to operate ACJ, sync your content, secure the service, and support subscription-based access.
Profile, journal, and collection information
We collect the information you create or save in ACJ, including display names, profile settings, cover photos, cigar logs, tasting notes, ratings, dates, prices, humidor inventory, aging notes, wishlist items, lounge reviews, community handles, public profile settings, and share codes.
Photos and camera data
If you grant camera or photo library access, ACJ may access photos you take or select so you can attach them to journal entries, identify cigars from images, or personalize your profile. Images you choose to save may be stored as part of your content in ACJ.
Location information
If you grant location permission, ACJ may collect your location while you are using location-based features. This may be used to help find nearby cigar lounges and to let you add location information to your entries.
Community and social content
If you use community or social features, we may collect messages, follows, likes, live-session activity, notifications, and other content or interactions you choose to create inside ACJ.
AI feature inputs
When you use AI-assisted features, we may process the information you submit to those features, including text prompts, tasting notes, cigar names and brands, collection summaries, location searches, geocoding queries, and images submitted for cigar identification.
Device and local storage data
ACJ stores limited data on your device for functionality, such as age-gate confirmation, theme and language preferences, install-prompt state, and offline cache or pending sync data.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
verify active Apple App Store subscription access;
operate, maintain, and secure ACJ;
save and sync your journal, humidor, wishlist, and profile data;
provide AI-powered features such as cigar identification, recommendations, pairings, tasting assistance, and chat;
provide location-based lounge discovery and location tagging;
enable community, social, and sharing features;
display notifications where supported; and
troubleshoot issues and improve reliability.
3. How We Share Information
Service providers
We use third-party service providers that process data on our behalf, including Apple for subscription billing and entitlement management, backend infrastructure providers for app operation and syncing, and Google Gemini as the AI provider for ACJ.
Sharing you control
If you choose to use community, follow, live-session, public-profile, or share-code features, certain information may be visible to other users. This can include your display name, profile photo, community handle, shared collection information, community messages, follows, likes, lounge reviews, and other content you choose to make visible through ACJ.
Legal and business disclosures
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or if reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, users, or ACJ. We may also disclose information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their own advertising purposes.
4. AI Features
ACJ uses Google Gemini to power features such as cigar identification from images, tasting note assistance, pairings, recommendations, lounge search, geocoding, chat, and collection insights. Information you submit to those features may be processed to generate results. AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or generated from the information you provide. You should avoid submitting sensitive personal information in AI prompts or images.
5. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide ACJ, maintain app functionality, verify subscription-linked access, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Data stored locally on your device may remain until you delete ACJ, clear app storage, or remove it through device settings. If you want us to review a deletion request for account-linked data, contact us at support@jamsoftinc.com.
6. Your Choices
You can choose whether to grant camera, photo library, location, and notification permissions and whether to use community or public-sharing features. You can also update or delete certain content inside ACJ, such as logs, wishlist items, humidor items, profile settings, and visibility settings. Subscription billing, cancellation, and renewal settings for iOS are managed through Apple.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. To make a request, contact support@jamsoftinc.com.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children and Age Restrictions
ACJ is intended only for adults of legal smoking age in their jurisdiction and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us at support@jamsoftinc.com.
9. International Processing
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than the one where you live, including countries where our service providers operate. By using ACJ, you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in those locations subject to applicable law.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of ACJ after an updated policy becomes effective means the updated policy will apply to your use of ACJ.
